Sophia is a psychotherapist and owner of private practice, For the Soul Mental Health Counseling. Sophia is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and EMDR trained clinician who specializes in Trauma & PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and Mood Disorders.
She utilizes a Trauma-Focused, Psychodynamic model mixed with CBT and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to assist her clients as they heal and transform into the best version of themselves. Sophia has an extensive background working with adolescents and their families who have experienced complex trauma and adults struggling with substance abuse.
Sophia holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Adelphi University. After graduating from Adelphi, Sophia worked in the criminal justice system serving diverse caseloads of individuals suffering from various forms of mental health and substance use issues. Sophia then went on to teach Forensic Psychology as an Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University while working full time as a psychotherapist at a group private practice on Long Island. Sophia, inspired by the amount of individuals seeking help throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, opened For the Soul to continue providing 1:1 quality care.
